Mixed Bag Duck Hunting in Argentina

Simply put, Argentina duck hunting doesn’t get any better than this. Our exclusive duck-only program in the far west of the Buenos Aires province has been called “the gold standard” of duck hunting in Argentina. This duck hunt is not for everyone…it was specially designed for duck hunting enthusiasts in pursuit of the very best that Argentina has to offer. Over a dozen exotic species, highlighted by the famed Rosy Billed Pochard, are taken regularly. Furthermore, this is one of the only Argentina duck hunting programs that offer consistent, high-quality shooting in both the mornings and in the afternoons. In the field, River Plate hunters can expect spacious blinds, professional on-sight guides, friendly bird boys, refreshments and of course plenty of ducks. Another distinct advantage is that the best duck hunting in Argentina is just 10-30 minutes away from our beautiful lodge. This means a lot less time on the road, and more time in the duck blind.

What to Expect in the Field
This Argentina duck hunting program is unique in several ways. For starters, hunters are treated to TWO outings per day…one duck hunt in the morning and another after a lodge lunch and midday siesta. While most Argentina duck hunting lodges wake their guests at 3:30am just to rush them through breakfast and hit the road for a long drive, La Escondida is just minutes away from some of the most revered duck hunting in Argentina. In the field, River Plate hunters enjoy comfortable blinds designed with safety and swing space in mind. Hunters are accompanied by friendly and knowledgeable bird boys that provide gun assistance, shells and refreshments. Master guides, with years of experience duck hunting in Argentina, are also always on hand to make sure hunters are in the best possible positions. In this area of Argentina, duck species include the Rosy Billed Pochard, the Brazilian Teal, the Speckled Teal, the Fulvous Whistling Duck, the Red Shoveller, the Southern Wigeon, the Blackheaded Duck, the White-Cheeked Pintail, the Silver Teal, the Ring Teal, the Cinnamon Teal, the White Faced Whistling duck and the occasional Yellow Billed Pintail.

Accommodations
Our goal is to provide visitors with the most memorable Argentina duck hunting experience possible…showing our guests a great time both in the field and out. For our Buenos Aires duck-only program, River Plate hunters are accommodated at La Escondida Lodge, a charming old-world estancia surrounded by a picturesque park and private polo fields. Here, fine Argentine wines and gourmet regional cuisine are complimented by legendary service and genuine hospitality. La Escondida can comfortably accommodate up to 12 hunters, but groups are normally limited to eight hunters to ensure intimacy at the lodge and plenty of elbow room in the field. In total, La Escondida has eight well-appointed bedrooms (some with petite fireplaces), eight bathrooms, multiple living rooms and lounges, a library, a main dining room and of course a gun room.

Location
La Escondida is located directly west of the city of Buenos Aires near the small towns of Lincoln and General Pinto. Getting to our lodge requires nothing more than an easy 4-hr drive from the city of Buenos Aires. Charter flight options are also available and can be easily arranged by our staff.
